FileZilla FTP Program

Download FileZilla

  1. Go to FileZilla Download.
  2. Select a mirror in North America, and click on the link for that mirror under Download. The link should look like a piece of paper with ones and zeros.
  3. If prompted, choose to Save the file to disk, and save it in your My Documents directory.

Install FileZilla

  1. Open your My Documents folder
  2. Open the file labeled FileZilla_2_2_3_setup.
  3. Choose a language, then press OK.
  4. Click I Agree to accept the license terms.
  5. Change the install options (optional), then click Next.
  6. Change the installation directory (optional) then click Next.
  7. Change the start menu folder (optional) then click Next.
  8. Click Install.
  9. Click Close.

Configuring FileZilla

  1. Open the FileZilla program using the icon on the Desktop or the Start Menu
  2. Open the File menu and select Site Manager.
  3. Click on New Site.
  4. In the large white box, change New FTP site to tribcsp.com
  5. In the Host: box:
    • To access your personal webspace: type in upload.tribcsp.com
    • To access your domain webspace: type in your domain name
  6. Port: should be set to 21. Servertype: should be set to FTP.
  7. Under Logontype: select Normal.
  8. Under User:, type in your email username (or domain username for a domain account).
  9. Under Password: type in your email password (or domain access password for a domain account).
  10. Uncheck the box next to Don't save password.
  11. Click Save and Exit.

Open a connection

  1. Open the FileZilla program
  2. Open the File menu and select Site Manager.
  3. Select tribcsp.com from the list of FTP sites.
  4. Click the Connect button.

Upload File(s):

  1. Locate the file you want to upload in the window on the left side (your computer) of the screen.
  2. Change the directory on the right side (tribcsp.com server) to the directory where you want to store the file.
  3. Click and hold on the file, drag your mouse to the right side of the screen, and release the mouse.

Download File(s):

  1. Locate the file you want to download on the right side (tribcsp.com server)
  2. Change the directory on the left side (your computer) to the directory where you want to store the file.
  3. Click and hold on the file, drag your mouse to the left side of the screen, and release the mouse.

Upload a homepage:

  1. Create a file named index.html using an HTML or text editor.
  2. Upload the file to the public_html directory on the tribcsp.com server.
  3. Verify the file works by going to the address http://w3.tribcsp.com/~username (with your email username) or http://yourdomain/ (for domain sites).

Send a large file via FTP:

  1. Upload the file to the public_html directory.
  2. The address to download the file is: http://w3.tribcsp.com/~username/filename
    For example, for username bob and filename layout.pdf, the address is: http://w3.tribcsp.com/~bob/layout.pdf
  3. Email a copy of the address to the person you are sending the file to.
  4. Once you confirm they have downloaded the file, delete it from the server.
