FileZilla FTP Program
Download FileZilla
- Go to FileZilla Download.
- Select a mirror in North America, and click on the link for that mirror under Download. The link should look like a piece of paper with ones and zeros.
- If prompted, choose to Save the file to disk, and save it in your My Documents directory.
Install FileZilla
- Open your My Documents folder
- Open the file labeled FileZilla_2_2_3_setup.
- Choose a language, then press OK.
- Click I Agree to accept the license terms.
- Change the install options (optional), then click Next.
- Change the installation directory (optional) then click Next.
- Change the start menu folder (optional) then click Next.
- Click Install.
- Click Close.
Configuring FileZilla
- Open the FileZilla program using the icon on the Desktop or the Start Menu
- Open the File menu and select Site Manager.
- Click on New Site.
- In the large white box, change New FTP site to tribcsp.com
- In the Host: box:
- To access your personal webspace: type in upload.tribcsp.com
- To access your domain webspace: type in your domain name
- Port: should be set to 21. Servertype: should be set to FTP.
- Under Logontype: select Normal.
- Under User:, type in your email username (or domain username for a domain account).
- Under Password: type in your email password (or domain access password for a domain account).
- Uncheck the box next to Don't save password.
- Click Save and Exit.
Open a connection
- Open the FileZilla program
- Open the File menu and select Site Manager.
- Select tribcsp.com from the list of FTP sites.
- Click the Connect button.
Upload File(s):
- Locate the file you want to upload in the window on the left side (your computer) of the screen.
- Change the directory on the right side (tribcsp.com server) to the directory where you want to store the file.
- Click and hold on the file, drag your mouse to the right side of the screen, and release the mouse.
Download File(s):
- Locate the file you want to download on the right side (tribcsp.com server)
- Change the directory on the left side (your computer) to the directory where you want to store the file.
- Click and hold on the file, drag your mouse to the left side of the screen, and release the mouse.
Upload a homepage:
- Create a file named index.html using an HTML or text editor.
- Upload the file to the public_html directory on the tribcsp.com server.
- Verify the file works by going to the address
http://w3.tribcsp.com/~username
(with your email username) orhttp://yourdomain/
(for domain sites).
Send a large file via FTP:
- Upload the file to the public_html directory.
- The address to download the file is:
http://w3.tribcsp.com/~username/filename
For example, for username bob and filename layout.pdf, the address is:http://w3.tribcsp.com/~bob/layout.pdf
- Email a copy of the address to the person you are sending the file to.
- Once you confirm they have downloaded the file, delete it from the server.
