How to Modify an existing connection in Windows 2000

  1. From the Start menu, move to Settings, then choose Network and Dial-up Connections. Link to Screenshot (screenshot)
  2. Right-click on the tribcsp.com icon, and select Properties
  3. Verify that the phone number listed matches your local access number.
  4. Verify that the box labeled Use Dialing Rules is unchecked.
  5. Click on the Configure button.
  6. Verify that the Maximum Speed is set no higher than 57600.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click on the Networking tab.
  9. In the box labeled This connection uses the following items:
    1. Check the box next to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
    2. Check the box next to QoS Packet Scheduler
    3. Check the box next to Client for Microsoft Networks
    4. Uncheck the box next to File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
  10. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.
  11. Verify that Obtain IP address automatically is selected.
  12. Verify that Obtain DNS server addresses automatically is selected.
  13. Click the Advanced button.
  14. Check the box next to Use Default Gateway on remote network.
  15. Check the box next to Use IP Header Compression.
  16. Click OK.
  17. Click OK.
  18. Click OK.
  19. Close the Network Connections window.
