How to Configure the Mac OS 8-9 Network Panel for Dial Up Access
- Click on the Apple menu and move to Control Panels.
- Open Remote Access.
- Click on the arrow button next to Setup so the arrow points down.
- Verify Registered User is selected with the black dot.
- In the Name field, type your Username from line 1 of your password sheet.
- In the Password field, type your Login Password from line 2 of your password sheet.
- Check the box next to Save password.
- In the Number field, type the 7-digit local access number from line 3 of your password sheet.
- Click on the Options button.
- Click on the Redialing tab.
- Click on the arrow box for Redial and set it to Redial main number only.
- Click on the Connection tab.
- Uncheck the box Use verbose logging.
- Check the box Flash icon in menu bar while connected.
- Uncheck the box Prompt every 5 minutes to maintain a connection.
- Uncheck the box Disconnect if idle for 10 minutes.
- Click on the Protocol tab.
- Click on the arrow box for Use Protocol and set it to PPP.
- Check the box Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications.
- Check the box Allow error correction and compression in modem.
- Check the box Use TCP header compression.
- Uncheck the box Connect to a command-line host.
- Click OK.
- Close the Remote Access window, and click Save to save your changes.
