How to Configure the Mac OS 8-9 Network Panel for Dial Up Access

  1. Click on the Apple menu and move to Control Panels.
  2. Open Remote Access.
  3. Click on the arrow button next to Setup so the arrow points down.
  4. Verify Registered User is selected with the black dot.
  5. In the Name field, type your Username from line 1 of your password sheet.
  6. In the Password field, type your Login Password from line 2 of your password sheet.
  7. Check the box next to Save password.
  8. In the Number field, type the 7-digit local access number from line 3 of your password sheet.
  9. Click on the Options button.
  10. Click on the Redialing tab.
  11. Click on the arrow box for Redial and set it to Redial main number only.
  12. Click on the Connection tab.
  13. Uncheck the box Use verbose logging.
  14. Check the box Flash icon in menu bar while connected.
  15. Uncheck the box Prompt every 5 minutes to maintain a connection.
  16. Uncheck the box Disconnect if idle for 10 minutes.
  17. Click on the Protocol tab.
  18. Click on the arrow box for Use Protocol and set it to PPP.
  19. Check the box Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications.
  20. Check the box Allow error correction and compression in modem.
  21. Check the box Use TCP header compression.
  22. Uncheck the box Connect to a command-line host.
  23. Click OK.
  24. Close the Remote Access window, and click Save to save your changes.
