How to Create a Dial Up Networking Connection in Windows 2000
From the Start menu, move to Settings, then choose Network and Dial-up Connections.
Open the Make new connection icon. This will start the New Connection Wizard.
Click the Next button.
Choose Dial-up to the Internet and click the Next button.
Choose I want to set up my Internet Connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN), and click the Next button.
Choose I connect through a phone line and a modem, and click the Next button.
In the Telephone number field, type the 7 digit local access number from line 3 of your password sheet. Uncheck Use area code and dialing rules, and click the Advanced button.
Verify Connection type is set to PPP and verify Logon Procedure is set to None, then click OK.
Click the Next button.
In the User name field, type your Username from line 1 of your password sheet.
In the Password field, type your Password from line 2 of your password sheet.
Click the Next button.
In the Connection Name field, type tribcsp.com, and click the Next button.
Choose No when Internet Connection Wizard asks Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now? and click Next.
Click Finish
A new Dial-up Networking icon named tribcsp.com should be listed now. Click one time, using the right-side mouse button, on the icon. From the pop-up menu choose Create Shortcut.
Windows will prompt with a dialog box Windows cannot create a shortcut here, do you want the shortcut to be placed on your desktop instead? click on the Yes button.
- Close the folder Dial-up Networking.
To Connect:
- Open the Shortcut to tribcsp.com on your desktop.
- Click Connect.
